@Ksherl97 Go down?..... Go up. I've been surfing for 20 years, I've had about 10 boards since i started and they got bigger every time. Longboards are the way to go brother, and the best part is when the waves are small you can still go out. I ride a 10' 1" and i'll never ride a short board again unless i move to cali. or hawaii which is never gonna happen. But it really comes down to personal choice. Peace..... and keep sufing.
