Fairly complex cityscape composite

Trip To Asia

Trip To Asia

Firstly apologies to the people of New York for desecrating their lovely park. It's my first attempt at a fairly complex cityscape composite. Once I get it right, I hope to use it as part of a showreel to try and get some freelance visual effects work in the world of fantasy/sci-fi television. If you have any suggestions as to how I could improve the scene, I'd love to hear from you. If your producing a fantasy/sci-fi TV show and want to get the most out of your visual effects budget, then please don't hesitate to contact me. If you'd like to try your hand at something similar, then you'll need access to: 3D motion tracking software like PFTrack, 3D modelling/animation software like Lightwave and compositing software like After Effects. @ViciousScotsman lol Thanks. Yeah Maya's good, I'm learning it too. Not sure I could call myself a master or that Lightwave is the worst package but thanks for the compliment. :-) I'm working on four shots for Dublin - two are finished, one is nearly there and one still has a long way to go. I'll hopefully be posting at least one of them here with a breakdown once all 4 shots are finished.

You done that in Lightwave? I have used Lightwave myself but I always find it is full of constraints, animating an ocean for example when Maya can do it at the touch of a button. Goes to show though even the worst of packages are exceptional in the hands of a master, outstanding stuff will be interesting to see the Dublin version.

@TheTLTLHeadquarters I started out, & still use, Lightwave 3D - because there's a great community & free tutorials are easy to come by. I've begun dabbling with Maya, which is generally accepted as the industry standard. If you want to learn the basics cheaply, then Blender is a free 3D application that's getting a lot of great press. If you don't want to get into modeling then something like Daz Studio would be ideal - it's free, easy to animate & they sell a lot of cheap pre rigged models.

@planetmirth2001 can't wait to see it. What programs are you using for 3D and compositing? I have been wanting to do 3D for our movies for so long now.

@TheTLTLHeadquarters Thank you. I'm just putting together something similar for a future Dublin cityscape. If all goes well I should be uploading it within a month or so.
